Fees

How fees work

What sets the fee, what a visit includes and when you hear the number.

  • Insurance we work with

We are out of network, so we don't bill health plans directly. Some plans reimburse acupuncture when you send in a receipt, and others don't cover it.

    • Employer and marketplace plans: ask whether they reimburse acupuncture

    • Most PPO plans: ask about out-of-network benefits

  • If you pay yourself

Most visits are paid at the time of the visit. We tell you the fee for your first visit, and for every visit after it, before the first needle. The front desk can tell you by phone or text. HSA and FSA cards can often be used: ask your plan administrator.

  • Receipts for reimbursement

After every visit we give you an itemized receipt, called a superbill, that your plan may reimburse in part. Your plan decides. Before you send it, ask your plan:

    • Is there an acupuncture benefit?

    • How many visits does it allow?

    • Is there a copay or a deductible?

    • Do I need a referral?

  • An estimate in advance

If you pay without insurance, we give you a written Good Faith Estimate before your first visit. If a bill is ever $400 or more above that estimate, you have the right to dispute it.

  • Checking your benefits

Because we are out of network, we can't check your benefits for you. Call your plan before your first visit and ask the questions above.

  • What the first visit includes

A first visit takes about 75 minutes: a talk about your calendar, a treatment and a plan. We share its fee with you in advance, as above, and return visits take about 45 minutes.
